Zero Net Energy Workshop and Design Charrette by Alison Kwok in Arts & Photography

Now you can read the lectures and learn the lessons of the participants in this zero net energy design workshop series. Through a series of presentations and an interdisciplinary design charrette, participants in this zero net energy design workshop develop a roadmap to understanding the issues, barriers, and institutional needs at the start of the design process, followed by a schematic design for a prototypical office building. Results with detailed illustrations from two workshops with architects and engineers are featured in this book published by the University of Oregon.

Wow, that’s an expensive book – is there a review available?

There seems to be a big focus on energy savings when designing a building. Here in the UK getting your designs passed or approved depends a lot on the carbon footprint of the building so a large portion of the building costs are aportioned to energy consumption of the building.
